Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in the fatal shooting of a woman found at 705 Lorraine Street about 6:25 p.m. on Aug. 4.
The suspect, Gustavo Lerma, 30, is charged with murder in the 209th Criminal District Court. A booking photo of Lerma is attached to this news release.
The victim is identified as Jakayla Alfred, 31.
HPD Homicide Division Detectives I. Barrett and P. Michon reported:
HPD patrol officers responded to a person down call at the above address and found an unresponsive female inside an apartment. Paramedics pronounced her deceased at the scene. An autopsy determined Ms. Alfred had suffered fatal gunshot wounds.
