Resuming stand-up comedy after a hiatus can be nerve-wracking, according to Kevin James

When Kevin James turned up for a stand-up performance at a bachelor party and found out that the guests were expecting a stripper instead, he had gone a long way.

James told Yahoo Entertainment, “They put me up onstage and the stripper didn’t show up.” And I had to perform my performance in front of a group of guys while perched on a chair. I left that night with a lot of tips, even though it was somewhat tough.”

The King of Queens actor’s most recent show, “Owls Don’t Walk,” is a return to his stand-up beginnings. He will conclude his tour in Salt Lake City after continuing on a nationwide tour through June.

James acknowledges that after a break, going back to the stand-up stage where he began his career might be scary.

“When you’re doing a new show or something you haven’t done for a while, it might be nerve-racking. Relubricating the muscles is necessary to restore functionality. “You get your legs after going through that a few times,” James said to Yahoo Entertainment on May 18, at Jimmy Fund Day, which gives patients from the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute the opportunity to play baseball at Fenway Park. “I wouldn’t describe myself as nervous now. It’s more that I get thrilled, I believe. I adore performing stand-up.”
