Lamar CISD Aims for 97% Graduate Readiness by 2026, Strengthening Career and College Pathways

Lamar Consolidated Independent School District is setting a high bar for student success—targeting a 97 percent post-graduation readiness rate by May 2026. The district’s new improvement plan, shaped with input from educators, parents, and community leaders, focuses on aligning every campus toward unified academic goals, expanding special-education programs, and boosting early-learning engagement.

Strategic Goals for Academic Growth

District leaders outlined five objectives: maintaining an “A” accountability rating, expanding attendance campaigns, enhancing the Innovative School Day to improve retention and real-world learning, and strengthening special-education staffing.

Measuring Success Through Data

Recent reports show early-grade reading up 4 percent but math down 2 percent. New assessments for grades 1–2 will trigger quicker interventions, while upper-grade students showed progress in STAAR and end-of-course tests.

College and Career Readiness Gains

The share of students earning College, Career, and Military Readiness (CCMR) credits rose from 64 percent in 2022 to 95 percent in 2024, boosting accountability ratings and yielding outcomes-based state bonuses reinvested into technical and academic programs.

Broader Context

Serving fast-growing Katy and Fulshear communities, Lamar CISD’s plan responds to population growth, workforce demands, and equity challenges. The goal: every student leaves prepared for higher education, certification, or immediate employment.
