As part of a project unveiled by Mattel on Wednesday, Barbie dolls will celebrate eight other athletes in addition to tennis star Venus Williams.

The other athletes portrayed as dolls include the paratriathlete Susana Rodriguez, boxer Estelle Mossely, swimmer Federica Pellegrini, soccer players Mary Fowler and Christine Sinclair, gymnasts Rebeca Andrade and Alexa Moreno, and track and field sprinter Ewa Swoboda.

Williams, the seven-time Grand Slam singles champion, said, “Barbie’s mission couldn’t resonate more deeply with that ethos. Throughout my career, I’ve always been driven by the idea of shattering glass ceilings and staying true to myself.”

According to Krista Berger of Mattel, the company aimed to highlight “the impact of sports in fostering self-confidence, ambition, and empowerment among the next generation.”
