The beloved event known as the Great Houston Pie Run is back for 2025, scheduled for Saturday, November 22. Hosted by Houston Running Company, the run-walk celebration invites participants of all ages and abilities to join in a festive morning of fun, fitness and—yes—pie.
A Sweet Start to the Holiday Season
Beginning just north of the intersection of TC Jester Boulevard and West 20th Street, the event opens with a mini-pie and beverage treat at the start line—because, in this case, dessert truly does come first. Participants then embark on their chosen route: a half-marathon, 10 K, 5 K or a family-friendly 1 K stroll designed for younger runners or adults walking with children. Awards are presented afterward, with categories including overall male and female winners, masters (age 40 +) and age-group champions across all distances.
Supporting Local Causes
More than just a race, the Pie Run serves as a community fundraiser. Proceeds benefit three local nonprofits:
-
Ainsley’s Angels Southeast Texas (which promotes inclusion in endurance events for individuals with disabilities)
-
The Asher House Animal Sanctuary (dedicated to rescuing and rehoming animals)
-
LifeGift (an organ and tissue donation organisation)
Volunteerism and fundraising add an extra layer of meaning to the event, furthering the goal of community engagement during the holiday season.
